Zoos and Aquariums Make Major Impact on Conservation

In the last five years, AZA-accredited zoos and aquariums funded 3,693 conservation projects in more than 100 countries. Annual spending on conservation averages nearly $70 million per year.

The annual Conservation Impact Report, being delivered to Members of Congress this week, provides a summary of the 2006 collective conservation efforts of AZA-accredited zoos and aquariums, as well as a complete list of individual projects broken out by state and by zoological institution.
