To help local law enforcement executives address the impact of immigration in their communities, the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) today released A Police Chief’s Guide To Immigration Issues. This guide covers a variety of topics about immigration issues, including: a summary of immigration law, historical perspectives, and community issues.

The report also examines many challenges that immigration presents to law enforcement agencies, including: responding to the immigrant community, the potential for community divisiveness, and the impact on a department’s limited resources.
