Accenture and the Economist Intelligence Unit recently conducted a wide-ranging survey of more than 300 technology and media firm executives. All of them are involved in, or close to the IPTV business – network operators, equipment vendors, consumer electronics firms, broadcasters/studios and content providers. The survey covered 40 countries in three regions – Europe, the Americas and Asia Pacific.
Our survey was global and senior, with more than 50 percent of respondents C-level executives& ;CEOs CIOs and CFOs. Accenture and the Economist Intelligence Unit developed the IPTV Confidence Index, where we measured confidence in short-term IPTV revenue generation at 4.06 (a little confident) on a scale of 1 to 10. It rises to 7.55 (fairly confident), however, within a three-year time line. The low confidence levels for early revenue largely reflect IPTV’s nascent stage of development.
